Dear Confidants and Readers

Since 2003 ...might be good e-journal has sought to provide you with thoughtful and pithy coverage of exhibitions, artists projects, lectures and events from Texas and beyond. As we develop new features and fight to pay artists and writers a fair wage, we find ourselves struggling for self-sustainability. Shoring up our financial foundations are crucial for maintaining our current content levels while developing new features that lend texture and a sense of experimentation to your reading experience. This is the first time we’re coming to you, our readership, in order to ask for your financial support. A small donation of as little as $25 will go directly to supporting writers fees and artists’ Project Spaces, while a donation as generous as $500 can help fully fund an entire issue.

...might be good is a small organization. Each bi-monthly issue is produced by two staff members—an editor and production assistant. Our content requires real costs to produce and your donation directly offsets those expenditures. It comes from voices like artist Michelle Handelman as she responded to the partial censorship of her work at Arthouse, our editorial letter in support of Occupy Wall Street, Catherine Wagley’s engaging look at Pacific Standard Time and Mary Walling Blackburn’s ongoing series of interviews that push the boundaries of traditional formats. These are just a few, of many examples, that highlight ...might be good’s commitment to quality writing, thoughtful experimentation and the continued presence of rigorous arts writing in our local communities.

We’d like to reemphasize the tremendous value of ...might be good to you, not simply as a publication that supports the arts, but as a venue that contributes to the creation of scholarship that addresses the fundamental cultural issues of our time. We hope you’ll take that into account when considering a donation at any level, large or small. We are absolutely thrilled to be moving into the future with you, during this, an exciting period of growth for ...might be good.

Thank you for your ongoing readership and support.

With Enthusiasm and Warmest Regards,From The Editor on behalf of the Staff, Generous Funders and Founders

Fluent~Collaborative is a speculative non-profit initiative established to increase awareness of the ideas and issues that inform culture today and the parallel developments in contemporary visual art. Currently, Fluent~Collaborative has two projects: testsite, an experimental exhibition space, and ...might be good, a contemporary art e-journal.

History

Fluent~Collaborative was cofounded by Regine Basha and Laurence Miller in 2003. So named to reflect a flexible, adaptable nature and an openness to partnering with other institutions and individuals, Fluent has singlehandedly supported two ongoing ventures, …might be good and testsite, and has co-sponsored a number of short-term projects over the years.

Currently, Emily Ng helps oversee production at Fluent~Collaborative and its many projects. In addition, one of the most important contributors continues to be Mike Chesser, who has been a donor and supporter of Fluent~Collaborative for many years.
