Like life itself, testsite's latest project, Doug Fitch's From A Life to An Other, opens with the glow of a dramatic birth and ends with an eerie specter of death. Invited by guest curator Dana Friis-Hansen to create an installation that sheds light on his creative process, the New York-based Fitch, whose works range from puppetry and furniture design to opera and community food events, will assemble objects, tableaux and storyboards from previous works that trace the twists and turns of life's journey. Fitch's peripatetic imagination produces scenarios of wild wit, stirring melodrama, haunting allegories and everyday joy that tap into the epic drive to understand our world through stories.

Doug Fitch received his A.B. from Harvard College with a concentration in Visual Studies. Fitch's work spans multiple genres, including architecture, theatre and opera (stage and costume design, direction, writing), furniture design, multi-media events and visual art. His most current project is directing Leos Janácek's The Cunning Little Vixen at the New York Philharmonic, which runs June 22 - June 25.

Dana Friis-Hansen is an independent curator and writer engaged with international contemporary art and its connections to culture past and present. He served as Chief Curator of the Austin Museum of Art previous to his role as Executive Director from 2002 until January 2011. He has also notably worked as Senior Curator at the Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston, co-curated the highly regarded exhibition TransCulture for the 1995 Venice Biennale and written for numerous international publications. He serves on several panels and advisory committees in addition to his many other past accomplishments.

Special thanks to Carrie Sealey-Morris and Craig Newswanger.
