About the Artist
Rob Verf was born in Amersfoort (Netherlands) in 1964. He graduated from the Utrecht Academy of Visual Arts in 1991. Since 2000 he works and lives in Argentina. He has participated in many national and international exhibitions, lectures and artistic projects around the world. He was a resident at the ISCP in New York and at El Basilisco in Buenos Aires. His art integrates numerous private and museum -collections from Europe, the United States and South America. Verf received various scholarships and prizes, among which the Royal Prize for Art Painting of the Netherlands, the National Prize for Art Painting by the Bank of the Nation and the National Salon for Visual Arts (special mention) both in Argentina. He was nominated for the Europe Prize for Painting in Belgium and two times for the National Salon in Rosario in Argentina. He published his book Rob Verf - The Moment that got nominated for the Robert W. Hamilton Best Book Award from the University of Texas at Austin. He was a lecturer at the Art and Art-History Department at the University of Texas at Austin from 2008 until 2013, where he was nominated for the University of Texas System Regent’s Outstanding Teaching Award. He now teaches at the University Torcuato Di Tella in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
