About the Collaborator

A champion of local artist communities who stays abreast of international developments, Annette DiMeo Carlozzi has a keen eye for emerging talent and a steadfast commitment to looking beyond labels. Raised in Boston and trained at the Walker Art Center, over these last several decades she has built an expansive practice as a curator of modern & contemporary art in Aspen, New Orleans, Atlanta and Austin, creating innovative exhibitions, producing new commissioning opportunities for artists, and acquiring major works by a wide range of artists, with a focus on women and artists of color.

In addition to her distinguished museum career, Carlozzi has served as consultant/advisor/board member/panelist/mentor for over 50 national and regional organizations including Creative Capital, the Nimoy Foundation, and UT-Austin’s Division of Diversity and Community Engagement.  Named to the Austin Arts Hall of Fame in 2013, Carlozzi is now an independent curator.  Her recent exhibitions include: After Carolee: Tender and Fierce, Artpace (2021), Immersed, Linda Pace Foundation (2015-16), Crit Group at The Contemporary Austin/Grayduck Gallery (2017-20), and Perception Unfolds: Looking at Deborah Hay’s Dance at Tanz im August/Akademie der Kunst, Berlin (2019).
