Project Details
Regine and Roy´s collaboration involves three sites in Austin: a residence (testsite), the Austin Museum of Art at Laguna Gloria´s sculpture garden, and an undisclosed drainage ditch next to a large movie theatre. The exhibition attempts to make testsite (a semi-private space) function as a location in which to consider two other public spaces (the sculpture garden and the undisclosed drainage ditch). To these ends, rumors and documents referring to both actions and performative sculptures will charge these public spaces for the testsite visitor. Among the actions set to take place: 1) Roy will mow the lawn and repair the place markers for four outdoor sculptures in the Austin Museum of Art at Laguna Gloria sculpture garden. 2) At the end of the exhibition, a sculpture which first appears at testsite will be relocated to the undisclosed drainage ditch and left there for posterity. Regine´s contribution to the project consists of an edited document of collected excerpts and quotes from wildly different sources compiled as a reference to the collaborative thought process behind the project. This document will appear on one of the sculptures as anonymous found content.
